I received this helpful letter from the "California State Board of Equalization", which reminded me to pay something called "use tax". Apparently we were all supposed to be paying whatever "use tax" is, since 1935. (I think it's just sales tax.)

And I totally would pay it, but unfortunately their letter included a "Frequently asked questions" section that switches grammatical person half way through, from "I" to "you". No doubt the state of California understands that I cannot in good conscience contribute revenue to an entity that has such a slipshod attitude regarding narrative mode.
